Delta County, Michigan - June 10, 2008

wildlife biologist with the US Forest Service (Rapid River) found tracks that
were consistent with cougar while doing Kirtland Warbler surveys. The tracks
were in soft sand. The early morning moisture allowed perfect impressions of
footprints within the sandy soils of the jack pine stand only. Animal was
heading south. Photographs of the tracks were subsequently identified as
consistent with cougar by Michigan DNR.
